PORTER USING COMMISSION OF AUDIT AS ROADMAP FOR MORE CUTS

Reports in today's West Australian indicate that rookie Social Services Minister, Christian Porter is using Tony Abbott's discredited Commission of Audit report as his roadmap for more cuts to vulnerable Australians.

Top of Mr Porter's list appears to be cuts to carers.

The Commission of Audit recommended in 2014 introducing means testing of the Carer Allowance.

These would be a huge blow for Australia's carers if Mr Porter decided to make cuts to the Carer Allowance.

Mr Porter should not even be thinking about throwing carers off the carers off the Carer Allowance.

Government should be supporting Australia's carers not trying to find new ways of cutting support to them.

The Commission of Audit also recommended cutting the indexation of the Carer Payment by indexing the payment to CPI only.

The Commission of Audit was the blueprint for Joe Hockey's disastrous first budget.

Mr Porter should not be using the Commission of Audit as a guide for anything.

It recommended cuts to the indexation of the Age Pension, increasing the pension age to 70, massive cuts to Family Tax Benefits including the abolition of Family Tax Benefit Part B.

If Mr Porter wants to show the Government has changed he should immediately rule out implementing any recommendations from the discredited Commission of Audit.
