Australian Workers Heritage Centre
What is the Australian Workers Heritage Centre?
The Australian Workers Heritage Centre (AWHC) is the only national attraction dedicated to celebrating the lives and proud heritage of ordinary working people - telling the stories of the railway workers and blacksmiths, the farmers, nurses and teachers who shaped the nation.
The AWHC is located in Barcaldine on the Matilda Highway, and about an hours drive from Longreach. Just one street back from the main street, in Ash Street, the Workers Heritage Centre is one of Outback Queensland's best kept secrets, a significant tourist destination and part of the Queensland Government's Heritage Trails Network.

Wanpa-rda Matilda Outback Education Centre
The Worker's Heritage Centre is proud of the Wanpa-rda Matilda Outback Education Centre - their very own on site residential educational facility.
Centrally located, Wanpa-rda makes a great 'base camp' from which school groups (both primary and secondary) can explore the rich educational experiences offered by Queensland's Central West Region.
Whether schools want to 'do their own thing' or follow structured learning experiences developed by Education Queensland, they've had some very positive feedback from students and teachers.
